CHI-WARA HEADDRESS
2010
Some of the most beautiful headdresses in Africa are created by the Bamama People of Mali and are used to initiate young men into manhood. The ceremony in which these headdresses are used recognizes young men for their proficiency as farmers and marks their passing into the adult world as food providers for their villages.
I have always thought that we should have an initiation ceremony for kids when they graduate from using a tricycle to being proficient on a two-wheel bicycle. I remember when I did it, it was a big deal!
